Deacon

I serve as a deacon in the Anglican Church of Canada. Deacons are ordained to stand at the threshold between the Church and the wider community, proclaiming the Gospel in both word and action. We are called especially to serve alongside those experiencing poverty, homelessness, illness, and other forms of marginalization. Deacons also encourage and equip others in their own ministries, helping the Church respond faithfully to the needs, hopes, and struggles of the community around it.

Nightstop provides emergency overnight accommodation for young people experiencing housing insecurity, offering a safe place to stay while longer-term supports are arranged. As a Nightstop host family, we open our home to young people in need, seeking to offer hospitality, dignity, and hope at a time when they need it most.

St. Mark’s Maples Court is a non-profit housing organization in Port Hope that provides affordable, independent housing for older adults. Governed by a volunteer board, it is committed to helping seniors live with dignity, independence, and a strong sense of community through affordable, safe, well-maintained housing and responsible stewardship of its resources.

The Northumberland Homelessness Leadership Table is collaborative of service providers, municipalities and community leaders working to prevent and reduce homelessness across Northumberland County. Together, we strengthen partnerships, and advance practical, long-term solutions to housing insecurity.

The CAEH Faith Network is a cross-faith initiative that helps faith communities play a meaningful role in ending homelessness. Our work focuses on moving beyond charity toward justice, strengthening collaboration across Canada, and encouraging practical, community-based responses that uphold the dignity of every person.
